A Secret Garden

My mom has the most incredible garden, it's like walking out of the house and in to a fairy dream land. I couldn't pass up the chance to get outfit pictures back there so I had a little help from my mommy. Isn't that blue bottle garden behind me awesome? Who thinks of that? I hope her creative gene will show itself in me eventually...

Mint, Weddings & Wedges

Blouse, Skirt & Shoes: Zara
Necklace: F21

Hello, Operator?

As I mentioned yesterday, last weekend I visited Minnesota for a short number of packed-full-of-fun-and-logistics hours. Most excitingly, I witnessed the nuptials of two close friends on a beautifully sunny day in a small Minnesota town. It was really small, guys. And really adorable. I wished I could've stayed there for at least another hour or two. I mean, the downtown had a pay phone! I'm pretty sure there were kids in the wedding party who had never even seen one of these before in real life.

I was so distracted with the slap-happiness of seeing all of our friends who we ditched for San Francisco 3 months ago, and others who we hadn't seen since the good old days of college (!), that I didn't get any other pictures from this day. Bummer.

To sum it up: "I'm having so much fun I could just EXPLODE!"

Shout out to the fabulous Bre of Peacoats and Plaid who did my hair for the night!

Reduce, Reuse, Restyle

Cardigan: H&M (old)
Blouse & Jeans: Zara
Shoes: Thrifted

My approach to the way I work my closet has done a 180 over the past few months. Younger Bit's goal was to hoard as many items of clothing as possible, whether or not I ever planned on wearing them. To give you an idea of the lengths I went to accomplish this goal, there were an old pair of Hooter's shorts floating around in there; I think even a toddler would have a difficult time getting those things on.

Since the move (which left me with 50% less space) I've been on a never ending mission to sort through the mess and toss/donate anything that I haven't worn in 1 year +. An exception went out to the bag of some of my favorite clothes that had been mysteriously packed away on the very highest shelf of Mick's closet. Wha 'chu got against those clothes, boy?

So here I am in an outfit that, to me, exemplifies my work and dedication thus far to creating a sustainable closet.

On a different note, we traveled back to Minnesota for a few hours this weekend to see my college roommate marry Mick's college roommate. It was a reunion of old, older & new friends and the giggle-fests alone were totally worth the red eye flights on Saturday morning and Sunday night.

That Looks SO Ugly

Jacket: H&M
Dress: Target
Belt: F21
Shoes: Target (OLD, like high school old)
Don't mind my flipping you off in the first picture, we're still learning about this whole outfit photography thing.

About the title. I was running some errands in the Mission this afternoon after meeting Mick for lunch (roasted red pepper panini at the Stable Cafe, mmm delicioso! (I learned that from Dora the Explorer. Silly backpack!)). I was minding my own business, strolling along, when this crazy lady (that's my own opinion. She may or may not have been a fruitcake, but for this story, and my ego, we'll say she was) looked at me and said to herself "that looks SO ugly". Whether or not she was talking about my dress is irrelevant to me because I think it's awesome, and my mommy bought it for me so that makes it extra special, but I wonder what she really was talking about.

Update: So after I posted this, I read Kendi's post 50 Ways to Wear a Dress and thought I'd give it a shot and add one more way to wear a dress, making the list now total 5. Long sleeve T + Scarf,  what do you guys think, does this work or did I just turn it in to a skirt?

P.S. Hi, Kendi. I think you're awesome.

Styling Boyfriend's Plain White Tee: Episode 4, The Time I Tell You About My Fairy Princess Dream

Last night I dreamt that my little brother had a fairy princess who lived most of the time as an adorable little kitten with pink stripes. So many questions. The kitten was seriously adorable, though. I think pink should be an option for kitten color after seeing the one in my dream.

Here's my fourth plain white t-shirt outfit. I was playing with different necklaces and scarfs and came up with this colorful outfit :)

Doorbell Time

Every week day I come home at 2pm (okay, sometimes I haven't even left the house yet) for doorbell time. This is when Archy meows at the doorbell while I buzz in the UPS man to drop off Mick's newest Amazon goodies. Amazon has everything. It's freaky. You could live your whole life never stepping foot in a store again if you wanted to. Personally, I don't see the fun in that. Mick, on the other hand...
Anywho, sometimes the bf orders cool things and doesn't tell me. I think he does it to trick me in to making it home for doorbell time every day. Or just because he's awesome. I pretty much cleaned up today:

Yep, that is a pack of 20 floating lanterns. I, too, mistakenly thought they only existed in movies.

Styling Boyfriend's Plain White Tee: Episode 3, Is That A Tie?

For this outfit, I wanted to step away from girly and try a more relaxed/menswear look. With that in mind, I thought it would be fun to wear one of my favorite scarves as a tie. Then I tried tying said tie-scarf, not so much fun. Eventually I came up with something that somewhat resembles a tie and left it at that. **Fun fact about the scarf: I bought it because it reminded me of Harry Potter.**

What is going on with my hand?

Here's the outfit from another, more relaxed, angle.

Yeah, that's what Saturday's are for!

Styling Boyfriend's Plain White Tee: Episode 2, Hey There Delila

Sometimes you just have to accept the obvious and move on. Yes I'm talking about the title to this post, can we talk about something else now?
When worn without any modification, a mens white undershirt can look, well, manly. So I thought I'd try and girl it up for this outfit. Pink skirt, check. Bare midriff, check. Girly ruffles, check. Cotton candy, dangit! I knew something was missing!

Skirt: F21(old)
Boots: Heartbreaker (Minneapolis)
T-shirt: Mick Jae's Closet

And in case you were wondering how one wears a short skirt like this in a windy city such as mine. Here ya go ladies :)

Styling Boyfriend's Plain White Tee: Episode 1 - The Undershirt Goes Undercover

I don't think an item of clothing exists that is easier or more comfortable to put on than the boyfriend's plain white undershirt. I also don't think there is another girl out there more guilty of raiding her boyfriend's closet ever so often (or every so often) than myself. So I got to thinking, just how many different ways can I dress up this plain white tee that I just "borrowed" (and sliced apart) from poor, unknowing Mick? Well, now I am on a mission to show you. For the next 3 days, I will play dress up with this mens undershirt, to prove †o you that I have what it takes, to become America's Next Top-wait... what was I talking about?

Let's be serious, only committing to 3 days is making me feel like a wuss. You dare me to do more? five, you say? OK, I'll do five, but don't blame me if things start to get weird.

To start things off, I went for an "office" look.  Pairing the white tee with a girly pink blazer and black slim fit trousers.  I think this is more representative of one of those offices you see on TV, not your real life office. At least not any office I've ever worked in. It's the shoes.

Blazer: Heartbreaker (Minneapolis)
Pants: Expres
Shoes: H&M
Necklace: F21
T-Shirt: Mick Jae's Closet (probably Hanes or something similar)

How would you like to see this t-shirt styled? I'll give even the most out-there suggestions consideration :)

Matters of the Weather

Pay no attention to the blurriness and my awkward smile :)

I tried for literally minutes to come up with a clever title for this post. Something involving old man sweaters and prison/Beetlejuice. The gears just aren't turning. It was rainy in the city yesterday and after almost 2 months without rain, it was very welcome. I love what a rainy day does to my mood. Yesterday, it convinced me that it was fall instead of spring. In anticipation of a long, cold winter, I pulled out my chunky wool sweater and this striped dress that I'd forgotten that I own and cozied up in the corner of my local coffee shop.
I always ignore this dress on the hanger. It just looks so... blah... hanging in my closet. When it finally makes it on to my body, it is so much fun to wear! I should try to remember to stop forgetting about it for so long.

Hi new friends! Thanks for following :) I am so excited that you are reading this. Every time I see a new comment from one of you it is like christmas. Thank you!!

City & Chambray

Last weekend I got to show my mom around this city that I now call home (and am falling for more & more every day). We had so much fun, but I think the best part of the weekend was Sunday night; the Golden Gate Bridge's 75th anniversary firework show. I got the pleasure of relaxing on a hill at my favorite park with two of the people who I love the most (Mommy and Mick) and experiencing the most amazing firework show I have ever seen.

One of the things my mom was most excited to see during her visit was actually this bathroom. I'm hoping she'll laugh when she sees that I snuck in and snapped this picture on one of our morning coffee runs.

I have been living in this outfit on the weekends. It's simple, comfortable and allows for flexibility to try and keep up with San Francisco's confusing weather.

Jacket: F21; Chambray: Zara; Jeans: Express; Shoes: Anne Klein; Necklace & Sunglasses: H&M

Happy 75th, Golden Gate!
