On the Hunt

Forgive me for not knowing what kind of bird this is. I do know that it is large and cool.

Driving (and walking) Miss Daisy

This weekend was packed full of activity. So much activity that we had to abandon one of our plans which was a flea market across the Bay Bridge at Treasure Island. Mick called me daisy all weekend because of my hat. Hey, it's hard to style your hair with only 1 hand!

We finally got to taking a walk along the Embarcadero towards the financial district (something we've been meaning to do since we got here). It was hot and sunny and perfect weather for tourists which, in many respects, we still feel like we are.
Pina Colada flavored honey stick in my mouth, Bay Bridge in the background

I had an audience cheering me on!
We attended our first game at AT&T Park as Giants fans

Seriously, does it get any better?

On Sunday we made our (now)weekly trip to the farmers market for some fresh veggies and our favorite new snack, dried pears.

They're like fruit snacks... made from REAL FRUIT!
We took a scenic drive out to the Infineon Raceway in Sonoma for the Ferrari 458 Challenge and I posed next to a Hooters Ferrari.

On our way home from the raceway we decided to stop at Muir Beach and check out the sights. This is definitely a place where we would bring friends to hang out for the day.

I'm learning more and more about how to make my blog better so expect sweet updates, soonish. :)

Not Quite There Yet

These are some pictures I took on our first day- just after getting all of our stuff inside and building the uber-important bed.  We've made a bit of progress since this, mainly that we got our 3 desks up and we have a shower curtain liner being held up by Monkey Gorilla Tape.
We have plans to get a dresser and real shower curtain tomorrow. Wish us luck!

Tourists

I wonder how long it will be before we stop feeling like tourists here.

Day 2 - 16 Crazy Hours

Excuse me while I manually unclench my butt cheeks... Ok, that's better. Today we drove through Wyoming, Utah & Nevadon't-ever-drive-through-this-state-unless-you're-hauling-a-load-or-insane. In between long stretches of pure boredom and I-swear-we're-gonna-fly-off-this-cliff-and-die stretches through the mountains in Utah and Nevada I was able to admire so many sights that I either didn't know existed or never thought I would see.

The Old West

Trains
I-80 Road trip through Wyoming
They reminded me of the train set I used to play with growing up
Park City, Utah
I don't have a good picture of this, I was too busy clenching my jaw while holding tightly on to Archibald so he wouldn't jump and distract Mick.

Salt Lake
So pretty, the color was unlike any lake I've seen

The Salt Flats
The salt flats went on for 20 or 30 minutes. Other travelers seemed to like to drive around in them or write messages with rocks out there.
Mick insisted we get out and take a picture

Wave Mountain
I don't know its real name, but it's a mountain that, in the dusk light, looked like a giant wave about to crash over the field

Winnemucca
Apparently it's in a book my mom read

A lot of NOTHING in Nevada

RENO!!!!
Next time, I'll skip Reno. Not much to see here. Ha, who am I kidding, I will never do this again. No Way.
To say we were relieved to finally find ourselves in Reno is an understatement. To celebrate, we walked over to the casinos to hang out/look around/possibly gamble. The ATM cost $10 so gambling was out. A casino is a casino, even in Reno, so looking around got boring quick. Instead, we stopped in the only restaurant we could find open and had a chicken quesadilla and a beer and then went back to our motel for some much needed rest.
Day 3 and move-in to come!
Good night!

Bonus Pics:

Archy enjoyed himself
My mom hid these cute little cards in the sandwiches she made us for the drive. I miss you too, mom! *sniffle*

On the First Day

We started our journey early in the morning by saying goodbye to the best parents in the world (Hi mom! :))

Somewhere around hour 12 Archy and I got bored

And then it rained and he was unimpressed
